The Ayala Coop is back to normal as far as its corporate social responsibility endeavors are concerned. Well, at least almost, that is. This came to pass when some 36 Coop volunteers flew all the way to Siargao to participate in the Brigadang Ayala activities there, where they visited a number of schools in several municipalities of the eight-municipality island and donated school bags for school children as well as helped repaint classrooms. This was in partnership with Ms. Patsy Zobel de Ayala and the Ayala Foundation, which helped organize the activities.
The various activities, which took place from August 10-13, saw Ms. Zobel, along with the team of volunteers organized by the Ayala Coop from the Coop itself, the Ayala Business Club, Bank of the Philippine Islands and AFI participate in the Brigada activities that Coop and other Ayala Group volunteers used to do regularly before the coronavirus pandemic broke out in 2020.
Turnover
Ayala Coop General Manager Dina Orosa led a team that attended a turnover ceremony of school supplies to the Department of Education’s Siargao Division Superintendent Nelia S. Lomocso, who received the supplies along with several school principals and representatives.
Among those who joined the trip to Siargao were members of the Coop’s Management Committee, including Chief Finance Officer Jennifer Cura, Elinor Abellare, Olive Ablaza, Lenny Sante-Arias, Jonathan Rojo, Diane Agliam and Precious Robie Dagli.
The Coop donated a total of 2,283 school kits to some 19 schools, four of which the Coop would also provide armchairs, a handwashing station, sports equipment and painting materials. These are the San Miguel Elementary School, Libertad Elementary School in Santa Monica, Libertad Elementary School in General Luna, and Malinao Elementary School.
Ms. Zobel’s team
A team led by Ms. Zobel, which also included AFI manager Maria Paz Baylon and the Coop’s Jorge Chavez and Tuesday Rarela, visited four island schools on August 11 to turn over school kits to the said schools – Anajawan Elementary School, Suyangan Elementary School, La Januza Elementary School and Mam-on Elementary School.
The Coop team of volunteers was actually divided into four smaller teams to make separate visits on the same day to four other schools – San Miguel, Libertad in Santa Monica and General Luna, and Malinao – which received the aforementioned additional donations.
Also joining the team of volunteers in the Brigadang Ayala activities were AFI’s Mark Alcantara, Garrett Nolasco and Benjie Hinampas, We Are Ayala Business Club-Cagayan de Oro Chapter members Danae Solijon of Ayala Land Malls, Harold Rotor of Ayala Property Management Corporation and Ludimer Caballero of Entrego, and Mary Crisheen Mendoza of BPI-Surigao and Judy Lou Laure of BPI-Agusan.
